Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken just East of the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1130, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1913 and retired in October of 1958 after 45 years of faithful service. Note that its main driving rods have been removed in preparation for scrapping. |
